Additional trains and buses for major events in September
Late summer brings a host of major events to Saxony-Anhalt. For visitors who would prefer to leave their cars at home and travel by public transport, Nahverkehrsservice Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH (NASA) has collaborated with transport companies to increase service frequency and train capacity.
During the castle festival in Tangermünde, which takes place from 12 to 14 September, the RB33 will run between Stendal and Tangermünde every 40 minutes during peak times. Additional services will be available late in the evening and at night. The last departures from Tangermünde will be at 11:45 pm on Friday/Saturday night and 1:05 am on Saturday/Sunday night.
Trains will not stop at the intermediate stations of Miltern, Bindfelde and Stendal-Vorbahnhof during peak periods. Instead, a shuttle bus will run every 40 minutes.
There will also be additional departures on the PlusBus line 790. As well as hourly services on Friday and services every two hours on Saturday on the Genthin–Jerichow–Tangermünde route, the following additional late-evening return services will be available on the first two days of the festival. On Friday evening, an additional service will depart from the Tangermünde Neustädter Tor stop at 23:11 for Genthin. On Saturday night/Sunday morning, in addition to the regular timetable, line 790 will run at 00:07 from the Tangermünde, Neustädter Tor stop to Genthin.
The Freyburg Wine Festival will also take place from 12 to 14 September. To mark the occasion, the number of services between Naumburg Central Station and Laucha will double on Saturday and Sunday. The RB77 will run almost every half hour between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, and until 6 p.m. on Sunday. Additional services will also be provided in the evening and night-time hours on Friday and Saturday. All trains will also run with double capacity through the Unstrut Valley. Direct arrival and departure is possible on Saturday and Sunday with the RB77 from Halle Central Station (departing at 9:45 a.m.), Merseburg Central Station (departing at 9:56 a.m.) and Weißenfels (departing at 10:10 a.m.). Return journeys from Freyburg depart at 8:12 p.m. on Saturday and 6:12 p.m. on Sunday. Special trains organised by railway associations are also expected in the Unstrut Valley on Saturday.
The Eisleber Wiese festival will take place from 19 to 22 September. The S7, RE8 and RE9 lines will run approximately every half hour from Lutherstadt Eisleben to Halle, and at least every hour to Sangerhausen, throughout the festival. To offer visitors transport options late in the evening and at night, the train service has been extended on Friday/Saturday and Saturday/Sunday nights. Verkehrsgesellschaft Südharz mbH is providing extra services on many routes on public holidays, including the PlusBus lines 420 (Helbra, Klostermansfeld, Mansfeld), 410 (Volkstedt, Siersleben, Hettstedt, Aschersleben) and 700 (Querfurt).
