Reading day at the railway workshop

Today is the 20th nationwide Reading Aloud Day under the motto "reading aloud connects". To mark the occasion, Nahverkehrsservice Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH (NASA) together with Deutsche Bahn AG (DB Regio) invited two fourth grade classes from Halle (Saale) to a special experience yesterday, Thursday. As part of the mobility project, the pupils presented their favourite books in the DB Regio workshop, explored a parked train and were given a tour of the workshop.

It was an eventful day for the 41 boys and girls from Karl-Friedrich-Friesen primary school in Halle (Saale). They read from their favourite books and learned how trains are repaired and maintained in the workshop. A special highlight was a visit to the locomotive driver's cab, where the children had their photographs taken. "It was great to see the enthusiasm with which the children took on the role of train driver. For us, this is a very important part of our mobility project. After all, one or two of tomorrow's train drivers could be on this train," says Doreen Havemann from NASA GmbH. She travels to schools in Saxony-Anhalt to give children information about public transport at their school and in the state as a whole. The children also learn about the different professions associated with rail transport.
