Commissioning of the new state network line 471 Aken - Dessau on December 10, 2023

Commissioning of the new state network line 471 Aken - Dessau on December 10, 2023

A groundbreaking cooperation between various mobility stakeholders (Nahverkehrsservice Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH (NASA GmbH), the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld and the responsible transport company Vetter GmbH) will bring significant improvements for Aken and Dessau starting December 10, 2023. The new measures, including more trips, additional stops and attractive ticket offers, represent a significant step forward for local transport connections.

With the upcoming timetable change, the existing bus route 471 will be upgraded to a PlusBus, significantly expanding the service. Additional evening services will be added Monday through Friday, creating a continuous hourly service between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. In addition, there will now be a service at least every two hours on weekends, and an hourly service between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

A special feature is the late night service from Saturday to Sunday, with the last train leaving Dessau after midnight at 00:42. Such night trips are a novelty in the state network and will be tested on this route, so that the PlusBus can also be used to return home after evening events in Dessau.

In addition, the Saturday evening service will be extended beyond the main station to the center of Dessau, running from and to the Bauhaus Museum stop. This ensures a transfer-free connection to and from the city center.

A good connection with coordinated connections is also available outside this period: Passengers can change buses at the main station to the 471 and 310 bus lines (Dessau - Oranienbaum - Gräfenhainichen) with a four-minute transfer time; the 310 bus line serves various stops in the center of Dessau. It is also possible to transfer to the tram lines 1 and 3 of the Dessauer Verkehrs GmbH.

In Aken, accessibility (especially to the southern part of the city) will be improved by a change in routing. This also affects line 470 to/from Köthen/Gröbzig, which will be linked to line 471 on Mondays to Fridays and will also be supplemented by an additional trip. A total of eight new stops have been added in Aken, five of them for line 471.

The vehicles on route 471 are equipped with Wi-Fi. Tickets can be purchased directly on the bus and paid for with cash, EC card, credit card, smartphone or smartwatch. A single journey costs 4.00 euros (3.20 euros for children and BahnCard holders), and bicycles can be carried free of charge. Day tickets are also available, and both the Saxony-Anhalt ticket (no sale in the vehicle) and the Deutschland-Ticket are valid.
