Summer, sun, ice cream and public transport: Schülerferienticket now available

Saxony-Anhalt's Minister for Infrastructure and Digital Affairs, Dr Lydia Hüskens, cycled to the schoolyard of the Hegel Gymnasium in Magdeburg today. In her luggage and as a bicycle trailer, she had the 2023 Schülerferienticket (school holiday ticket) with her, which is available from today.

"The Schülerferienticket provides mobility and freedom for the state's schoolchildren. It will enable them to leave the school year behind and explore our beautiful state," said the Minister at the pre-sale event, where she was given a musical welcome by the school orchestra. As a thank you, all members of the orchestra received the first Schülerferientickets, hot off the press. For the rest of the students, there was ice cream in the playground, in keeping with the summer temperatures.

After a one-year break due to the nine-euro ticket, the Schülerferienticket is back this year for all full-time pupils in Saxony-Anhalt. It is valid during the summer holidays, from 6 July to 16 August, on local public transport in Saxony-Anhalt, in the area covered by the Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund (MDV) and as far as Wolfsburg. A single journey to Berlin is also possible. The ticket costs €28 and is accompanied by a booklet of vouchers with numerous discounts.

The Schülerferienticket is an initiative of the state of Saxony-Anhalt together with the transport companies and the Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund (MDV). The campaign is managed by Nahverkehrsgesellschaft Sachsen-Anhalt (NASA GmbH) on behalf of the state. In the summer of 2021, around 12,200 schoolchildren used the ticket to travel by train and bus.

The "INSA Young" app with real-time data and a call-bus function provides information on the area of validity of the Schülerferienticket.
