New offers for rail and bus services in 2024
The timetable change on 10 December will bring some significant improvements to local transport in the Land of Saxony-Anhalt. A half-hourly service between Magdeburg and Stendal will be created by overlapping the RE20 and S1 lines. North of Stendal, the Altmark Y will branch off to provide hourly services to Uelzen, Salzwedel and Wittenberge from Monday to Friday.
Additional services are also planned between Stendal and Wolfsburg and between Burg and Magdeburg. This will result in a continuous hourly service during the day from Monday to Friday. There will also be a new timetable concept around Naumburg, with the RE16 between Halle and Erfurt being increased to a daily hourly service. The new timetable also brings changes on many other lines, which commuters in particular should be aware of. The aim is to achieve the best possible coordination between local and long-distance transport.
Bus routes 380 (Salzmünde - Halle) and 471 (Aken - Dessau) will be added to the state network on 10 December. A new Plusbus concept in the Elbe-Havel region is expected to improve services between the towns of Stendal, Havelberg, Tangermünde and Genthin from February 2024. Regional bus routes 790 and 900 will run hourly.
