Halle (Saale) Central Station has been named Germany's Station of the Year 2023, as announced today by the "Allianz pro Schiene" (Pro-Rail Alliance), which has been holding an annual competition for the best railway stations in Germany since 2004.

"Mobility means freedom. When railway stations are as attractive and customer-friendly as Halle Central Station, there is a real choice between modes of transport," said Dr Lydia Hüskens, Minister for Infrastructure in Saxony-Anhalt, at the award ceremony. "We have been working closely and trustfully with DB Station&Service for many years and are therefore particularly pleased that Halle Central Station, after many years of rebuilding and extensive renovation, has now received an award for its unmistakable character and the successful combination of historic station building and modern services as a friendly gateway to the city," she said. This is another building block in the excellent links between the city on the River Saale and the regional and long-distance rail network," she added.

The stations in Halberstadt and Lutherstadt Wittenberg have already been named 'Station of the Year' in Saxony-Anhalt in previous years.
