The weekend of 20 to 22 September will see the third „Tag der Schiene“ (Day of the Railway), an event organised by the Allianz pro Schiene e.V. (Pro-Rail Alliance) and the entire industry. Deutsche Bahn (DB) will also be opening its doors to interested parties and visitors over the three days. The event will provide an opportunity to discover fascinating topics and projects at DB in person and up close, including in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.

Saxony:
The Leipzig-Connewitz training centre provides an invaluable insight into the diverse everyday life of DB's professions. The simulation facility offers visitors the unique opportunity to gain exclusive behind-the-scenes insights into the railway infrastructure, including an understanding of how points and signal box technology work.

In Pirna, the geology of the Eastern Ore Mountains plays a pivotal role. The 'New Dresden-Prague railway line' project is opening its drill core storage. As part of the geological investigations, experts have extracted hundreds of drill cores from the Eastern Ore Mountains. Guided tours provide interested parties with insights into the geology and history, as well as updates on the railway tunnel planning.

On the open construction site day in Meißen, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the installation of the railway bridge over the Steinweg. The new bridge was prefabricated and then pushed into its final position.

For those with an interest in music, DB's 'Station to Station' project at Leipzig Central Station offers a unique concert experience under the motto 'Mahler meets modernity'. An eight-piece jazz ensemble will be performing new interpretations of Mahler's pieces.

Saxony-Anhalt:
The Jobexpress makes a stop in Magdeburg, where it offers information on the various careers at DB, including roles for specialists, students and academic professionals. Interested parties can find out more about the different career opportunities at DB. Visitors can gain valuable insights behind the scenes during guided tours of Magdeburg Central Station.

Furthermore, visitors have the opportunity to apply for a position at DB in Halle at DB InfraGO (Delitzscher Straße). This entails practical maintenance tasks and insights into the latest signal box technology. Experts will be available to answer any questions regarding the application process. At the family festival in the Halle train formation facility, visitors can gain first-hand experience of railway work. They can take a ride on a locomotive, visit the signal box or tour the maintenance department.

Thuringia:
The Thuringian mountain railway has opened its Maschinarium adventure museum in the Schwarzatal valley. Visitors to Lichtenhain will be able to gain exclusive access to the heart of the mountain railway, with the engine house housing the drive system, including the traction sheaves, engines and brakes.

DB is offering guided tours of the construction site and the unveiling of the 'Malcher', which has been restored in line with its listed status, in Altenburg. The majority of the work on the conversion of the Altenburg junction has been completed on schedule, and the engineers will be available to answer visitors' questions and provide explanations. The experts will also be presenting training and employment opportunities at DB.
