Elbe-Havel-Star bus rendezvous

[Translate to Englisch:] (v.l.n.r) Dr. Steffen Burchhardt- Landrat Jerichower Land; Ministerin Lydia Hüskens; Daniela Kramper - Nahverkehrsgesellschaft Jerichower Land; Sarah Fretter- stendalbus; Peter Panitz - NASA GmbH; Patrick Puhlmann - Landrat Stendal

In the presence of Infrastructure Minister Dr. Lydia Hüskens, the launch of a completely new bus service in the Elbe-Havel region was celebrated today at Jerichow Monastery: the Elbe-Havel Star. Starting February 3rd, two PlusBus routes will connect the cities of Stendal, Havelberg, Genthin and Tangermünde. The special feature is that all the destinations along the two routes will be connected hourly by a reliable connection in Fischbeck.

Together with the Landrats Patrick Puhlmann (Stendal) and Steffen Burchhardt (Jerichower Land) as well as Sarah Fretter (stendalbus GmbH) and Daniela Kramper (Nahverkehrsgesellschaft Jerichower Land, NJL), the minister ceremonially unveiled one of the first buses to be used in the Elbe-Havel Star. The strikingly designed vehicles will provide passengers in the region with more connections and more frequent service. This will benefit 65,000 people in 14 neighboring towns and villages.

"I think it's remarkable what the project participants have achieved with this new PlusBus concept. Two separate transportation companies are pulling together for the benefit of passengers and creating a completely new form of mobility in the region," says Lydia Hüskens in Jerichow. "Mobility means freedom. Freedom also includes a real choice of means of transportation. We want people in our country to be able to freely choose all forms of mobility. This requires a well-developed infrastructure and, of course, attractive public transport services," the Minister emphasized.

The existing bus service for the Elbe-Havel-Stern has been fundamentally revised. The former NJL line 742 will now run hourly as PlusBus 790 from Genthin via Jerichow to Fischbeck and from there alternately to Tangermünde or to the new terminus at Stendal central station. Stendalbus line 900 has also been upgraded to an hourly PlusBus. It starts in Havelberg and takes passengers via Klietz, Schönhausen and Fischbeck to Tangermünde or Stendal, also alternating.

To ensure that all four end points are connected every hour, the timetables of the two lines have been precisely coordinated.
All buses will meet at a new rendezvous point in Fischbeck and wait for each other so that passengers can change buses at the shortest possible distance, allowing for trips that did not previously exist, such as from Havelberg to Jerichow and Genthin and from Stendal to Genthin and Jerichow.

To mark the start of the new Elbe-Havel-Stern timetable, a public festival will be held in Fischbeck on February 3rd, to which all future passengers and interested parties are invited.
