Outer Halle junction: DB tests modern signaling technology for electronic signal stations
Bahn (DB) will be testing the modern control and safety technology already installed in the outer Halle junction from Friday 21 to Tuesday 25 February. The work is part of the expansion of the two electronic signal stations(ESTW) Halle East and Halle West, which control train traffic in Halle.
During the current functional tests, there will be restrictions for passengers on long-distance and regional services to and from Halle. This will result in detour, canceled stops and extended travel times for trains. In order to keep the impact on passengers to a minimum, the experts are mainly working at weekends and at night. However, some closures are necessary. Buses are available as a replacement for passengers. Buses will continue to run on the route between Halle and Delitzsch (S 9) until March 27, 2025. All changes have been incorporated into the timetable. DB asks passengers to check www.bahn.de and the DB Navigator app before setting off. Further information is available on the notices at the stations, from the Deutsche Bahn service number 030 297 0 and on the internet at bahn.de/bauarbeiten. Buses are available as an alternative for passengers.
At the end of March 2025, there will be further restrictions for travelers to and from Halle. Further technical tests are scheduled between March 22 and March 27. In future, modern control and safety technology will control the signals and points on the routes towards Gröbers-Leipzig/Halle Airport and Schkeuditz as well as from Halle towards Delitzsch. The two ESTWs ensure faster, more reliable and more flexible rail traffic as well as more capacity on the rails. Signals and points are set fully electronically, centrally and virtually at the click of a mouse using ESTW technology.
